Marriott Bonvoy's Warm Hospitality at Four Points by Sheraton Desaru

We were in Desaru Johor to visit my brother in law and decided to check out one of Marriott Bonvoy hotel chain, Four Points by Sheraton Desaru.

The hotel's strategic location right in Bandar Penawar Desaru is a plus point - the hotel is easily within walking distance from a supermarket, self-service laundry and restaurants. 

Strolling into the high ceiling lobby, we couldn't help but be awed with the spectacular chandelier hanging above the seating area. The floor-to-ceiling glass window allows plenty of warm natural light flowing into the lobby.

I was pleasantly surprised to be given complimentary upgrade to Premium Room (where initially I booked the Deluxe Room), courtesy of being a Silver Marriott Bonvoy member. 

Right now, Four Points by Sheraton Desaru runs a few offers exclusively for their member which are available via the Marriott Bonvoy apps. I decided to check out the 'Earn Eat Enjoy' room package that includes breakfast for 2 adults and 2 kids with additional RM15 only for complimentary breakfast for 3 extra persons.

Checking in was a brief affair and as usual I requested to activate mobile key via the apps. That way I need not worry about accidentally leaving my room key behind. Then it was time to check out our upgraded Premium room:

The room easily accommodates two wardrobes in the room, one of it has bathrobe and extra pillows in case guests need it

There were only two towels in the room and we also needed the prayer mats, so I requested for these items via the Marriott Bonvoy apps. In no time at all, my requested items were delivered to the room. It gives greater convenience to me when all services are just at my fingertips.

After travelling for 3 hours, everyone was feeling famished so we went down to check out The Mesh restaurant. Before placing order, I mentioned about my Silver membership to enjoy the 10% discount off F&B items in the hotel.

The kids ordered spaghetti bolognese from the kids menu, while I opted for this Carbonara pasta and Le Hubby went for the hotel's Nasi Goreng.

All in all, the food was delicious and the portion was quite huge for one person.

The next day, we decided to check out Desaru beach. The hotel provides complimentary shuttle service to  Westin Desaru, where a pristine beach and crystal clear sea await guests from the Westin, Hard Rock hotel and Four Points by Sheraton. The beach is a private property and thus only allows in guests of these hotels on its ground.

We had fun splashing about in the cool, clear water before we reluctantly had to go out and head to the shower area and changing room about 100 metres away from the beach to catch the shuttle bus back to our hotel. Khadeeja was especially sorry to bid goodbye to the scenic beach, which she said was the most beautiful beach she'd ever been to.

Overall we had a pleasant stay at Four Points by Sheraton Desaru. The only unpleasant experience we had was the foul stench from the toilet that lingered in the bathroom, which was also experienced by several prior guests when I read the hotel reviews. Otherwise, I would say the hotel was flawless and delightful in all aspects as a vacation hotel.
